Thousands raised for Guide Dogs Charity.

The Event
Normally at this time of year we’re waist deep in all things relating to carp fishing holidays in France, however a couple of weekends ago the Carp Social team attended the Lucy’s Bowl charity carp fishing match, held at the RK Leisure complex on the Wraysbury South and Wraysbury North lakes near Slough, UK.
This fantastic event attracts support from anglers and the angling trade alike, with companies and individuals generously donating prizes, tackle and time to help raise money for an incredible cause.
About Lucy’s Bowl
Lucy’s Bowl was founded in 2011 in memory of angler Keith Sykes’ beloved dog Lucy, with the aim of raising funds for the Guide Dogs charity. What started as a small memorial gathering between friends has grown into one of the best-known charity carp fishing events in the UK angling scene, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years to support people living with sight loss and visual impairments.
The charity works closely with Guide Dogs to help fund and name guide dog puppies, many of which are named “Lucy” in honour of the original inspiration behind the event. Every guide dog funded through these events goes on to change lives by helping people gain independence, confidence and freedom in everyday life.
Fundraising Impact
At this year’s (August 2023) event a cheque for £53,515.00 was presented to the Guide Dogs Charity, and every penny raised makes a huge difference to those living with visual impairments and disabilities.

A huge credit must go to all organisers, sponsors, anglers and volunteers who continue to support the event year after year and help keep the spirit of Lucy’s Bowl alive.
Give the gang at Lucy’s Bowl – Raising funds for Guide Dogs a follow on social media. Throughout the year there are raffles, auctions and some incredible ‘money can’t buy’ prizes up for grabs — plus even the chance to fish in next year’s match!
